Motorists should plan in advance, and expect long wait times during the queue for the Monday-Friday single-lane openings, alternating traffic operations in the morning, midday, and evening. And full roadway closures reduced speed limits and narrowed roads. Significant delays are anticipated. Restrictions for vehicles over 70 feet in length and 10 feet in width are in place through the project area.

Traffic schedule and timeline are subject to change.

Detour options during roadway closure

When US 50 is closed, passenger vehicles and small trucks can use CO 92 as a local alternate route. All other trucks and recreation vehicles over 70 feet in length will need to use I-70 to the north, US 160 to the south, or wait for one of the planned openings. Please allow and plan for additional travel time.

Vehicles carrying hazardous materials will need to use I-70 to the north, US 160 to the south, or wait for one of the planned openings. Planning for a significant increase in travel time is necessary.

Traffic and Recreation Impacts

Travel impacts for motorists will be consistent throughout the project. For much of the roadwork, weekdays motorists should plan for scheduled single-lane openings, and full nighttime closures Monday-Thursday reduced speed limits and narrowed roads. Significant delays are anticipated.
